Astor Neighborhood Sidewalk Tour

Join us for a sidewalk tour of the historic Astor Neighborhood in east Green Bay. 
Learn about the history and architecture of some of Green Bay's finest 19th and
early 20th homes, and hear about the "first families" who built these graceful
"Victorian ladies."

Please note:  This is a outdoor walking tour that takes about an hour and a half,
so please dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.  The tour is wheelchair accessible.

Tours begin at Hazelwood - 1008 S. Monroe Avenue, Green Bay.

Civil War Living History Weekend at Hazelwood

Saturday, May 17th  10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Sunday, May 18th  10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

1008 South Monroe Ave., Green Bay

Re-enactors will be camped out on the grounds at Historic Hazelwood.  Observe scenarios on camp life, cooking, recruiting of volunteer soldiers, military drilling,
mapping, battle tactics, weapons demonstrations and a Civil War era "tea."

Children can take part in a "scavenger hunt" searching for Civil War era items
and artifacts.

Special Event:  2 p.m. - Civil War era "Fashion Show" with period music
provided by Mary Eisenreich.

Food will be available for purchase.

Admission:  $4.00 for adults; $3.50 for 55+; $2.50 for children 6-12. 
Special family rate:  $10.00 for families up to five people with children 16 and under.

North Broadway Historic District (De Pere) Sidewalk Tour

Sunday, May 25, 2008 - 11:00AM and 1:00PM

The De Pere Historic Preservation Commission and the De Pere Historical Society celebrate May as Historic Preservation Month. They will sponsor guided Sidewalk Walking Tours of the North Broadway Historic District on Sunday, May 25, 2008, at 11:00AM and 1:00PM.

The free one-hour tours will start at White Pillars Museum, 403 N. Broadway, De Pere. Featured will be houses dating back to 1836 plus Polo Resto, the restored historic Gas Station now located at the south entrance to Voyageur Park at Front and William Streets.



 
    
 

"If Tombstones Could Talk" Cemetery Walk

Military and Velp Avenue, Green Bay

Visitors can get a flavor for this community's rich history in a cemetery that was
founded in 1862 as Fox Hills Cemetery.  A section of the current cemetery was once part of the bay of Green Bay.  Hear volunteer actors tell first person accounts about life in Green Bay from the frontier days until the 1950s and 1960s.  Notables such as hospital founder and physican Dr. Julius Bellin, Packer great Arnie Herber and opera star Lucille Meusel are featured, among many others.

Note:  This is a tour that involves walking and standing during each presentation. 
The use of lightweight, portable lawn chairs is encouraged.  The tour is wheelchair accessible, but be prepared for some uneven terrain.  Visitors must provide their own lawn chairs and wheelchairs.

Cost is $5.00 for individuals; $12.00 for families with children 16 and under.
